Description
As Autumn descends on on the greater Yellowstone area, it is not not fall color that becomes the big attraction. It is rut for the Elk. Most mature bull Elk transform into a testosterone charged beast as they work around the clock to compete for the attention of the cows and create a harem. During this time the bull elk can become very aggressive while eating and sleeping very little. Another unique characteristic for the bulls during this time is they become very vocal. From the valleys to the mountains, one can hear the haunting bugle of the bull elk. This strange squealing whistle is used to lure in the females while also letting any other potential males to keep their distance or deal with the consequence. This whole process is spectacle that everyone must witness once in their life. It is just amazing what animals go through just to survive.
