Description
A polar bear stands upon a large grey stone during a snowstorm somewhere in the wilderness of northern Canada. The wind blows and the snow swirls around the great animal. Through the haze of the blizzard, jagged snow capped peaks of a rocky mountain range can be seen rising into the sky.
The concept of a polar bear in a snowstorm is a bit of an artistic joke. Typically, it means a white canvas or paper with nothing drawn or painted on it. In other words, the artist has not done anything other than present a blank canvas. Sometimes there may be three black dots to represent the eyes and nose, still minimum effort on the part of the artist. I thought I'd have fun with the idea and make an actual scene of a polar bear in a snowstorm.
About how I create my artwork:
Rather than traditional forms of art such as painting or photography, I use a computer to create my images., It's called 3D Rendering and works like so: I make a scene by sculpting and arranging digital models in a virtual 3D space., After stipulating lighting and atmospheric effects, I have the computer create a simulated environment from which I take a virtual snap shot of the scene. Then, using image editing software and something more akin to traditional painting techniques (via a Wacom tablet), I go over the work adjusting colors, adding brushwork, painting in details, etc. to produce the final image. Software I use includes: Sculptris ZBrush, Blender3d, Vue, Daz Studio, and GIMP.
