Commissioned by Reed Construction in recognition of Reed’s 125th Anniversary. Founded 1893 during the Chicago World’s Columbian Exhibition.
The 1893 World's Columbian Exposition was held in Chicago in from May 1, 1893 to Oct 30, 1893. This World's Fair celebrated the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' arrival to the New World in 1492. The centerpiece of the Fair was a large water pool (lower right) representing the long sea voyage Columbus took to the New World.
Pictured top left is the world’s first Ferris Wheel, designed and constructed by George Washington Gale Ferris Jr., which began as a design competition for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition.
