Description
Sinopah Mountain rises high above Two Medicine Lake in Glacier National Park. I have seen the mountain many times at first light and hiked it in the twilight shadows. I've seen grizzlies on the forest hillsides and moose in the lake. Like many of the mountains in Glacier National Park, it is sacred to the Blackfeet. Sinopah, meaning "kit fox" in Blackfeet, was the Indian wife of Hugh Monroe (Rising Wolf) and daughter of Lone Walker, a powerful Blackfeet chief. For me, the mountain and lake inspire such awe and in all kinds of light, it's an artist's dream.
